How to choose a cylinder
The CMO cylinder manufacturing program is based on innovative technologies and long experience in high-pressure hydraulics.
The materials chosen for the couplings as well as the treated and corrosion-protected surfaces ensure the durability of CMO cylinders
COMPOSITION OF A CYLINDER:
Cylinder body and piston
Cylinder body and piston are made of high-strength, chrome-plated steel, giving the parts considerable resistance to wear and corrosion; this allows them to be used outdoors or particularly aggressive.
Ferrule
Ferrules are designed and manufactured with special materials and in relation to the use application of the pistons.
Scraper
The scraper ring prevents the entry of impurities and thus prolongs cylinder life.
Return spring
The appropriately sized spring enables rapid piston return regardless of cylinder position.
Sealing element
The compact type seal offers good resistance to abrasion and extrusion.
Thrust head
The high-strength steel thrust head eliminates any risk of deformation of the stem.
Quick coupler
The quick coupler, fitted as standard on all cylinders, is complete with dust cap.
Some essential data such as:
– Force
– Stroke
– Height closed and some additional data such as:
– Volume of oil needed
– Actuation speed are essential for the correct choice of a cylinder
The choice should then be completed with the type of return:
Gravity return, in which the weight of the lifted load causes the piston to return.
The minimum force required for return is approximately 0.2 percent of the nominal thrust value of the cylinder.
These cylinders are the most economical solution in cases of sporadic use where the need to operate to free the cylinder is not a problem.
Cylinders built to drawings at the request of the Principals belong to this type.
Spring return, in which a spring housed inside the cylinder and energized by the piston outlet provides the return force; they are preferred if, in non-continuous use, you still want to quickly release the cylinder.
All CMO cylinders in the catalog belong to this type.
Oil return, in which the return is achieved hydraulically by pumping oil into the return chamber of the cylinder.
This solution allows for rapid return, which is preferable in case of repeated actions such as in small production runs.
In the case of lifts, the use of cylinders of this class also allows for the control of descent under load with a circuit equipped with a piloted check valve and unidirectional flow regulator.
The return pressure can be adjusted to a lower value when it is necessary only to retract the piston; cylinders built to drawings at the request of the Principals belong to this type.
It can be operated at maximum working pressure on both sides when a pulling force must also be developed.
In this case the cylinders are equipped with appropriate threads or attachments.
